Challenge

250+ graduates in 13 cohorts • Learners from Nike, Ikea & Netflix • 93 % reported applying tools inside 30 days • BehaviourKit tool-set now embedded in Hyper Island’s course.

Impact

The problem

Hyper Island is famous for hands-on learning. Yet behavioural design content on the market was either too academic or too light. They needed a course that was:

  • Comprehensive: Foundations to advanced practice.

  • Scalable: Repeatable resources for every cohort.

  • Immediately useful: Live briefs, real research, real impact.

Timeline: 3 weeks from idea to launch.


Approach
  1. Design a six-week intensive

    End-to-end journey: diagnose ➜ design ➜ test ➜ embed.

    Core frameworks: COM-B, Behaviour Change Wheel, RCT basics.

  2. License BehaviourKit IP

    Gave every student access to Behaviour Mapping Canvases, Action Sorters and the First Steps into Behavioural Design Guide.

    Hosted on Hyper Island’s learning hub for always-on reference.

  3. Teach by doing

    Live brief: “How might we reduce adolescent screen time?”

    Students ran real interviews with teenagers, prototyped interventions, and tested nudges in-the-field.

  4. Coach for transfer

    Weekly live sessions plus 1-to-1 coaching.

    “Intention planning” exercises so each learner mapped how they’d use the tools in their day job.

  5. Scale with quality

    Built a facilitator playbook so future cohorts keep the same standards.

    Tool licences ensure every group, anywhere, has the right resources.
